In vitro comparative study of sorption and solubility of three modified glass ionomer cements

نویسندگان

چکیده

Aim: To evaluate and compare the sorption solubility of three modified glass ionomer cements –Glass Hybrid Restorative System (Equiaforte), Zirconomer Improved resin cement (RMGIC) in artificial saliva. Materials And Methods: A total 45cylindrical specimens (4mm diameter 6mm height) were prepared for each material following manufacturer’s instructions. After subjecting to thermocycling 500 cycles between 5 55 degree Celsius with dwell time 15secs,45 evaluated solubility, first weighing them by a precision scale (W1), then immersing saliva 28days them(W2), finally dehydratingin an oven 24 hours them(W3). Since obtained values show normal distribution differences groups data analyzed using one way analysis variance (ANOVA). For pairwise evaluation post hoc dunnet t3 test was used. Results: The minimum zirconomer improved mean value 52.91 ± 1.73 µg/mm3 10.47 1.52 when compared other groups. The difference found be statistically significant (p<0.05) terms solubility.

The Effect of Cigarette Smoking on Solubility and Disintegration of Resin Modified Glass Ionomer Cement – An In Vitro Study

Introduction: Glass ionomer cement (GIC) is a dental restorative material that is prone to solubility and degradation. GIC could degrade in presence of water and desiccation due to environmental factors during setting process and eventually might lead to the failure of the restoration. Cigarette smoking brings a complex chemical mixture to oral cavity that can inhibit polymeriz...
